A blog, deriving its name from weblog, is a type of web site that allows one to post commentary in reverse chronological order. Not only can one post text, but also other forms of media like audio, video, images and photos.

Blogging was invented in 1993 by Dr. Glen Barry as an outlet to campaign for forest preservation and protection. He founded the “Forest Protection Blog” at http:// forests.org/blog/ in January 1995, which to this day is the world’s first and longest continuously running weblog.
